Users of the Google Pixel and Samsung phones lost their contacts: what happened

Many Samsung and Google Pixel owners griped about not being able to access their phone’s contacts. People were reportedly shocked to see that none of their connections are accessible on the Google connections app either, according to reports on Thursday.

Some of them attempted to manually recover the contacts or even re-sync them from their Gmail account to the smartphone, but the majority of them were unsuccessful. Given that Google is the firm that creates the Contacts app, it seems sense that the impacted consumers opted to approach the corporation in hopes of finding a solution.

The fact that this problem only affected Pixel and Samsung Galaxy phone users indicates that the default Contacts app is at blame. Thankfully, Google recognized the problem very away and provided a fix.

According to the quotation provided by Google, the problem was with the Google Contacts app for Android, which had a flaw that caused the contacts for certain users to not show up on the phone or even on the web. Google asserts that the issue was related to “data access” and guarantees that the flaw did not impact the actual contact information.

In the last several weeks, Google has released fresh beta upgrades and QPR updates for Android 13, and the speed of the roll out may have had an impact on one of these pre-loaded applications.

In order to interact with individuals, Google utilizes the normal Android UI, and the Contacts app stores all of their friends’ phone numbers, names, and email addresses, among other information. We are anticipating that the bug will soon no longer be an issue and won’t affect additional Android-powered devices in the near future.
